Davinis’s Golden Boy

2026 we Finished our doe Gems championship, we had downsized the herd dramatically to only our 3 main mamas and 1 baby. We still had our amazing homebred buck Perry (BCF Legacy’s DMR Sir Percival), but with having a daughter and a half sister in our herd and several Perry daughters in my parents herd… we knew we needed some fresh genetics soon, and after another show season I knew we had some things to improve on in our program.

You can’t milk ears, but they are a part of what makes mini nubians mini “Nubians.” So we wanted to improve ears in our program. Without sacrificing other much more important traits. We also needed to bring more width to rumps, levelness of rumps, and improve rear leg angulation. Of course udders, shoulders, and production are important factors as well.

I was thinking probably 2027 we’d really need to add some new genes. But then scrolling online I saw the most beautiful Buckling! Was he a mini? No, but he was Nubian. Ears for milk, width, strength, and dam with long lactation and heavy production, wide, level rumps…. his sire was from the infamous Blissberry herd and boost super tight shoulders, high withers and loads of power, not to mention some incredible mammaries behind him! Both sire and dam have wonderful legs and feet, the rear leg angulation we’re needing more of, and not sacrificing on udder quality or production! This buckling, was Golden Boy. I fell in love with these beautiful boy, asked his breeder for more info and pricing, but knew I still needed to move one of my bucks (a son of Perry, too closely related to our herds to use much at all), if I could move this buck to make more space maybe I could convince my hubby to let me get this amazing boy.

well, time went by, I was having a hard time moving my yearling buck, and some folks were set to look at Golden Boy. The breede let me know someone was gonna come look at him, and I had to talk to my hubby. We’ll, that chat actually went really well, my hubby gave approval and agreed it seemed a good purchase to make, and I nearly cried I was SO happy! I sent the deposit for Golden Boy right away!
